According to a report from Claret and Hugh, the likelihood now is that West Ham will not make any more signings before tomorrow’s transfer deadline.
The Hammers have already added Czech Tomas Soucek to their ranks on a loan to buy deal. But that quite simply is not enough, if they want to avoid the drop this season.
West Ham currently sit in 17th spot in the Premier League table, level on points with 19th placed Watford. And they are in real trouble. David Moyes’s side face Manchester City and Liverpool away after Saturday’s home game against Brighton.
It could actually be argued that the Hammers still need to strengthen in every single position. That obviously will not happen, however.
West Ham fans would be happy if two or three new players were added before tomorrow night.
But Claret and Hugh claims that there is not much chance at all of that happening.
The reliable West Ham insider claims that they have been told by a top level source that ‘loads of bids’ have been submitted but no progress has been made.
And that news will really frustrate the Hammers fans. Especially considering the club’s paltry net spend in the summer. They spent big on the likes of Sebastien Haller and Pablo Fornals, but also shipped out a plethora of first team players including Marko Arnautovic, Edimilson Fernandes, Pedro Obiang and Javier Hernandez.
If anything, this transfer window has shown that the West Ham owners might just be planning for the Championship.
Who knows? They might just surprise us tomorrow on deadline day. But we won’t be holding our breaths, that’s for sure.
