Moyes has missed Michail Antonio for an extended period due to his troublesome hamstrings.
And Sebastien Haller’s West Ham career simply has not worked out.
When asked if the Hammers were targeting a striker in the January transfer window, Moyes recently name dropped Arnautovic – who infamously demanded a mega money move to China just months after signing a bumper new West Ham contract.
“I hope I get Micky (Antonio) back soon,” Moyes told the press (Evening Standard).
“If we don’t then we need to think what else we can do, how else we can do it. We need alternatives and options, we’re a little bit limited with that.
“If not then I’m going to have to start looking in my own group to find another Marko Arnautović or Micky Antonio. That’s what I’m going to have to try to do.”

ExWHUemployee has confirmed Moyes is seriously interested in bringing back the man he converted from an inconsistent wide forward to a deadly all-action striker during his first spell.
The news has divided West Ham fans, many of whom are still angry with Arnautovic for the way he left the club.
Speaking on his Patreon site in a detailed transfer update, ExWHUemployee has revealed the two factors which will decide Arnautovic’s Hammers return from Shanghai SIPG.
“David Moyes have been very keen on us bringing back Arnautovic and this could be possible on a loan deal,” ExWHUemployee said on his Patreon site.

“The two stumbling blocks will be his relationship with the owners and his high wages.
“He would have to take a significant wage cut for it to be viable and I am not sure whether he would want to do that.”
Arnautovic is on around £230,000 per week in Shanghai (The Mirror). He is now 31 but has scored 16 goals and provided four assists in 21 games since moving to China.
Many West Ham fans are against his return after watching his form dip dramatically after signing a new deal with the east Londoners only to demand a move to China in the summer of 2019.
The Daily Mail claims Arnautovic wanted a West Ham return on deadline day last January but was thwarted when planes from China were grounded.
