Insider denies reports that West Ham want Inter Milan star Ivan Perisic

West Ham insider EXWHUEmployee has quashed rumours suggesting Ivan Perisic is a target. When asked whether there was any truth in the Perisic rumours, EXWHUEmployee replied: “No mate, not that I am aware of: there are a couple of targets in Italy if Gómez doesn’t come but he isn’t one as far as I know.”

It was Italian media outlet FC Inter News that broke the story that West Ham wanted Perisic. The Hammers reportedly made contact with Inter Milan over a move for the Croatia winger, who scored against England in the World Cup semi-final to earn his country a place in the final against France.

Perisic will reportedly consider leaving the San Siro club this summer. But he has already rejected a move to China because England is his preferred destination.

This appeared to open the door for West Ham to swoop. However, the 30-year-old is not a target for the Irons at the moment. It seems that signing a new striker is the priority, rather than bringing in another wide man.

EXWHUEmployee denied that West Ham want Perisic. But he did add that a couple of Italy-based players were on West Ham’s radar in case the move for Maxi Gomez falls through.

One of those is likely to be Andrea Belotti. The Torino striker is valued at £63m (according to Claret and Hugh) after scoring 70 times in 148 appearances for the Serie A club.

The identity of the other Gomez alternative remains a mystery for now. But Perisic is not the man on West Ham’s radar. The club are working to sign Marko Arnautovic’s replacement so a striker takes priority over Perisic for now.
