Insider delivers exciting new update on West Ham's move for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Sebastien Haller

West Ham United want Eintracht Frankfurt striker Sebastien Haller but until now it was widely reported the feeling was not mutual.

Following the ultimately fruitless six month pursuit of Max Gomez, West Ham’s attentions in the last week have turned to Frenchman Haller (Sky Sports).

But fans have been fearing a similar outcome as the Gomez saga.

Hammers want Haller but German media doubted feeling was mutual

That’s after reputable German media outlet Bild played down West Ham’s chances of landing the 6ft 3in forward.

Reports from Germany (Frankfurter Rundschau) over the weekend also claimed Haller is set to be offered a bumper new deal to stay at Frankfurt, who recently sold his striker partner Luka Jovic to Real Madrid for big money.

Hammers fans were even more pessimistic over a deal when director of football Mario Husillos was pictured with the West Ham squad in China.

Of course that could turn out to be a hugely positive factor, read why here.

But supporters will be hugely encouraged after reliable West Ham insider ExWHUemployee delivered an exciting update on the situation on Monday.

Insider delivers hugely encouraging update

“Yes that is the plan (to intensify Haller talks this week),” ExWHUemployee said on Twitter.

“Discussions are expected to resume today (Monday). The player is more willing to come then he was originally but still need to agree a fee yet before we can work on him.

“Progress has now been turned into us being close to agreeing a fee. It’s not too far off.

“This will then mean agreeing terms with Haller. He has gone from being very against the move to keen (he has a rough idea of wages on offer). Still a way to go.”

Time is of the essence

If West Ham want Haller to join their squad for the Asia Trophy then the deal would need to be completed in the next 72 hours. He then might possibly make the final/third place play-off depending.

The striker situation has become acute for West Ham and Manuel Pellegrini.

The Chilean has just Javier Hernandez as a recognised senior striker after letting Andy Carroll, Lucas Perez and Marko Arnautovic leave this summer.

With the summer transfer window closing in just over three weeks time is of the essence.
