According to Claret and Hugh, West Ham may try to cancel Winston Reid’s contract by mutual consent.

The 32-year-old is the Hammers’ second longest serving player behind only Mark Noble.
Winston Reid joined West Ham from FC Midtjylland in the summer of 2010 for around £5 million (Eurosport).

The 25-capped New Zealand international instantly endeared himself to the Hammers faithful.
It seems as though Reid’s time at the London Stadium could be coming to an end, however.
The centre-back joined MLS side Sporting Kansas City on loan in February, having not played a senior game for the east London outfit since March 2018. That loan spell has now ended, however.
It has been claimed that Winston Reid could return to the Hammers’ Premier League 25-man squad in January (The Athletic).

Claret and Hugh suggest that the Kiwi is not wanted by David Moyes, however, and West Ham could try to cancel his contract.
The Hammers have Angelo Ogbonna, Fabian Balbuena, Aaron Cresswell and Issa Diop battling it out for the central defensive spots. We also have youngsters Frederik Alves, Aji Alese and Goncalo Cardoso waiting in the wings. Declan Rice can even deputise if need be.
Moving Reid on is probably the right call, but you can’t help think that Reid should be treated better considering the service he has given us. In an ideal world we would allow him to see out his contract and give him a testimonial.
There is no room for sentiment in the modern game, however. And getting Reid’s mammoth £70k-a-week salary (Spotrac) off the books would be a smart move from West Ham, if we do manage to come to some kind of agreement with the Kiwi ace.
