West Ham United are allegedly ready to pay upwards of €40 million for Lille midfielder Amadou Onana this summer.

That’s according to club insiders Claret and Hugh who claim that the Hammers are really pushing to wrap up a deal for the 20-year-old powerhouse before the transfer window closes.

Onana would be a truly sensational signing for West Ham this summer.

David Moyes desperately needs to bolster his central midfield ranks at the London Stadium this summer. That’s in spite of Flynn Downes’ recent arrival.

The Hammers manager needs to bring in some real physicality, power and pace to his engine room. Onana would be the ideal man for the job.

And it seems as though Moyes shares the same opinion…

West Ham ready to spend big on Onana

Claret and Hugh reckon that the Hammers are prepared to spend around €40 million (£34 million) on the 20-year-old Lille ace.

That kind of fee would be well worth it for Onana in my opinion.

The 6ft 5 in Belgium international possesses all of the attributes that West Ham currently lack. He is incredibly strong, has energy and stamina in abundance and is perfectly built for the intense nature of Premier League football.

Onana would certainly provide strong competition and cover for Tomas Soucek and at just 20, he has an incredibly high ceiling.

In 32 Ligue 1 outings for Lille last season, Onana averaged 1.5 tackles and one interception per game. He made 20 passes on average per match and recorded a completion rate of 84% (Who Scored).

West Ham have allegedly already made a £32.3 million bid for the Belgian.

And it seems as though the East London outfit are prepared to raise that offer by a couple of million.

Whether that will be enough for West Ham to get a deal for Onana over the line remains to be seen though.
