West Ham youngster Ben Johnson will be hungry for more game-time this season.
With Manuel Pellegrini having so many options at both right and left-back, however, his chances might just be limited.
According to ExWHUemployee, the Chilean is a big fan of the 19-year-old, but highlighted the fact he will struggle for regular action this season:
Pablo Zabaleta and Ryan Fredericks are both currently ahead of Johnson in the right-back pecking order at West Ham.
The teenager might be given a chance in the cup games for the Hammers, but his chances of earning regular Premier League action seem to be slim to none.
So perhaps a loan move away from the London Stadium could suit both the player and the club?
Johnson is a real talent, and he could risk hampering his development by just warming the bench for West Ham this season.
The 19-year-old signed a new contract with the Hammers in March – one that will run until at least the summer of 2022.
He clearly has a future at West Ham, but this season might just come too soon for the versatile defender.
