Reports this week claimed West Ham United have had a £24million bid for midfielder Gustavo Cuellar accepted.
Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini wants to bring in six new players this summer.
Two or three strikers, two midfielders, a back-up goalkeeper and fullback are the priorities according to fellow Hammers site Claret & Hugh.
West Ham have been linked with a host of midfielders including Newcastle’s Jonjo Shelvely, France starlet Pape Gueye and Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos.
‘Pellegrini has had £24mil bid accepted for Colombian’
But according to reports from Brazil (as also covered by The Daily Star) Pellegrini has outbid the likes of Napoli and will sign Colombian midfielder Gustavo Cuellar for £24 million.
Futebol Globo no Radio journalist Gustavo Henrique Dando Choque, who covers Cuellar’s club Flamengo in Brazil, claims the player will sign on the dotted line for West Ham in July.
The reports had many West Ham fans searching the web for clips of the 26-year-old in action.
Hammers supporters should not get too excited, though.
Insider kills speculation dead
That’s according to reliable West Ham Twitter source and radio personality ExWHUemployee.
Responding to a question about the reports West Ham had clinched the transfer, ExWHUemployee was extremely doubtful.
“I’ve never heard of him,” ExWHUemployee said.
“And I’m not sure the club even have.
“I doubt he would even get a work permit.”

Sanchez > Cuellar?
It is unlikely Pellegrini has never heard of the player as the Chilean keeps abreast of talent in his native South America.
But the point about the work permit issue is a salient one.
Cuellar has only made five appearances for the senior national team.
And that does not say much about his talents given Hammers midfielder Carlos Sanchez has 88 caps playing in the same position.
