In a comprehensive transfer update on The West Ham Way podcast on Phoenix FM (Wednesday 15th May), reliable insider EXWHUEmployee has shared the names of four central midfield targets for West Ham.
Adrien Rabiot, Dani Ceballos, Franck Kessie and Aaron Mooy are all being considered by the Hammers, according to EXWHUEmployee.
West Ham want a new central midfielder to slot in alongside Declan Rice. Mark Noble has impressed this season and Manuel Lanzini will be hoping to kick on next term after recovering from a long-term injury.
But Manuel Pellegrini wants another player in this department especially if Pedro Obiang leaves. These are the four Hammers targets, as per EXWHUEmployee’s sources.
PSG have frozen Rabiot out because he is desperate to leave. The France international is set to become a free agent when his contract with the Ligue 1 giants expires.
West Ham have explored the possibility of snapping Rabiot up. However, EXWHUEmployee adds that this deal is very unlikely due to the number of clubs chasing him.
The 24-year-old is a left-footed playmaker and a host of clubs, including Barcelona and Arsenal (The Daily Mail), want him.
Real Madrid midfielder Ceballos is another option. The Express reported earlier this week that the Hammers had opened talks over this £20m deal.
And EXWHUEmployee appears to back this up. The 6-cap Spain international has been told he can leave Real Madrid with West Ham interested.
Formerly of Real Betis, the 22-year-old offers the perfect blend of youth and experience. With nearly 150 La Liga games under his belt, Ceballos would join West Ham with a point to prove.
EXWHUEmployee confirmed that West Ham have watched Kessie. The AC Milan midfielder is a young box-to-box midfielder who would be ideal for the Hammers.
The Ivory Coast international already has vast experience in Italy. Having racked up over 150 games for Cesena, Atalanta and AC Milan, the 22-year-old also offers youth and experience.
West Ham desperately need an energetic midfielder who can contribute at both ends. With over 20 career goals already, Kessie fits the bill perfectly.
West Ham have also been checking on Huddersfield Town’s Mooy, which would be a slightly more underwhelming addition.
The Australia international has impressed for the Terriers in the Premier League despite their relegation back to the second-tier.
A summer exit looks likely for Mooy. In 65 appearances, the 28-year-old has scored seven goals and four assists. Perhaps those numbers would improve at West Ham.
