West Ham United are reportedly on the verge of signing left-back Hasan Ali Kaldirim.

A host of sources including BBC Sport claim West Ham are set to sign the Fenerbache captain imminently.

The BBC recently reported the Hammers had spoken to the player’s agent and Kaldirim was keen on a move to the Premier League.

The left-back was linked with West Ham in 2017. Key to the deal is said to be his cheap release clause of £4million as he has just one year left on his contract.

West Ham target hailed for shackling Mbappe

The result was billed by Turkish media as one of the biggest in their history (Hurriyetdailynews).

And central to that was West Ham target Kaldirim’s brilliant shackling of France golden boy Kylian Mbappe.

Kaldirim’s performance would have delighted watching West Ham fans and boss Manuel Pellegrini.

But it was also hailed by French media as the best defensive display seen against Mbappe, who is regarded as one of the best strikers in world football.

“Hard-pressed to think of anyone in world football who has more comprehensively shut out Kylian Mbappe than Hasan Ali Kaldirim tonight,” Get French Football News tweeted to its 130,000 followers.

Time will tell if speculation is true

The post sparked hundreds of responses. It also gained thousands of likes and retweets as football fans heaped praise on Kaldirim for his performance.

It was some performance to announce yourself to West Ham fans if Kaldirim is on his way to London.

Perhaps the only question mark is Kaldirim’s age. He turns 30 next season. But West Ham can still expect to get another two or three seasons out of him at least if they do sign him.
