West Ham currently have problems in the middle of the park.

Mark Noble’s powers are waning and Carlos Sanchez is set to leave in the summer.

Things could get a whole lot better in the summer, however.

Declan Rice is undroppable and will undoubtedly be one of the first names on David Moyes’s team-sheet next season.

If West Ham avoid relegation, they will most likely make Tomas Soucek’s loan deal a permanent one in the summer (The Guardian).

And the Hammers have also been linked with a move for Marseille ace Morgan Sanson (Le 10 Sport).

Exciting times could lie ahead for West Ham

And the prospect of having those names mentioned playing together as part of a midfield three should really excite West Ham fans.

Rice and Soucek could act as the pivots, providing a real level of solidarity to the Hammers’ backline.

In 29 Premier League outings this season, the 21-year-old has racked up 87 tackles, 61 interceptions, 41 clearances and 249 ball recoveries (premierleague.com).

Soucek, meanwhile, has made four Premier League appearances. And he has recorded eight tackles, eight interceptions, 12 clearances and 10 ball recoveries in the process (premierleague.com).

Sanson could then be deployed a bit further forward, what with his exceptional passing ability. In 27 Ligue 1 appearances for Marseille this season, the Frenchman has averaged 30.3 passes per game with an extremely impressive completion rate of 85.9% (Who Scored).

Those stats show that Rice, Soucek and Sanson would perfectly compliment each other as a midfield three.

If West Ham manage to sign the 25-year-old Marseille ace for the reported fee of just £19 million (Le 10 Sport), it would be absolutely brilliant business.

The Hammers could be on the verge of having a very special midfield. But they must avoid relegation first in order to make it at all possible.
