Ian Abrahams, talkSPORT journalist and West Ham fan, has hinted that Neal Maupay might be a target. Abrahams tweeted a picture of himself and Maupay, adding that West Ham have been linked.
Maupay was not in Brentford’s squad for yesterday’s 0-0 draw with Dynamo Kiev in a pre-season friendly. And with increasing speculation surrounding his future, many have jumped to the conclusion that he is leaving.
West London Sport claims that four clubs are in the hunt for the Brentford striker. West Ham are joined by Brighton and newly-promoted duo Aston Villa and Sheffield United in the Maupay chase.
Abrahams believes Maupay would cost £20m. This is backed up by a previous report by West London Sport, which claims that Brentford will hold out for at least £20m.
Who is Neal Maupay?
It is no surprise to see Premier League clubs circling around Maupay. The Frenchman has bagged 41 goals and 14 assists in 95 games over two years with Brentford.
His first season in West London was impressive as he scored 13 times. But he kicked on for the 2018/19 campaign. Maupay netted 28 times in all competitions, including 25 in the league.
The 22-year-old may be diminutive in height but he knows where the goal is. Maupay has adjusted to life in England very well, he is still young and he could be a shrewd investment for a Premier League side.
