According to a report from the Sun, West Ham are interested in signing the Rangers striker this summer.
The Northern Echo claims that Newcastle want to sign the 23-year-old as well.
The Hammers and the Magpies would have to pay around £20 million for Morelos, according to the Daily Record.
Colombian’s time up at Ibrox?
But the Rangers ace’s countryman Hugo Rodallega, who was managed by Steve Bruce during his Wigan days, urged him to pick Newcastle, when speaking to the Scottish Sun:
“He is in a great position in his career. And has the confidence and ability to play in the English Premier League. He must be clear and tell his current club that he wants to go there. He has to leave Scottish football and move to a bigger league. Now it’s time for him to go to a league that is more demanding. If he gets the chance to work with Steve Bruce, I know he would enjoy that because Bruce is a coach who gives his strikers a lot of confidence. That would be perfect for Alfredo.”
Morelos has enjoyed a superb three-year spell at Ibrox with Rangers. And as much as David Moyes and Steve Bruce will want to sign the Colombian ace, Steven Gerrard will surely not want to lose him.
The 23-year-old has a fantastic goalscoring record for Rangers, with 77 goals in 137 games to his name (Transfermarkt).
And he has been on fire this season for Steven Gerrard’s side, with 29 goals in 46 outings for the Gers (Transfermarkt).
It seems like Morelos is ready to take the next step in his career.
With Newcastle’s impending new-found wealth, they might just be in a stronger position than West Ham to sign the Rangers striker.
And Rodallega clearly believes St James’ Park is the ideal destination for the Gers ace.
For just £20 million, Morelos could be an excellent addition for the Toon.
Unfortunately for us, West Ham could be set to miss out on the 23-year-old.
