Arsenal are in a strong position to sign Declan Rice from West Ham, and could well be favourites for his signature if they win the league.

That’s according to football journalist Dean Jones who told Give Me Sport that Arsenal could be eyeing up a move to sign the Hammers midfielder.

Recent reports claimed that Rice is a ‘big admirer’ of the current project being led my Mikel Arteta at the Emirates.

Arsenal are in a great situation at the moment, and if they carry on, they will win the Premier League title.

If that happens, they may well be in the box seat for Rice’s signature…

Declan Rice could be Arsenal bound in the summer

There are plenty of top clubs who would like to sign Declan Rice.

Football journalist Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport how the stars could be aligning for Arsenal to win the race for Dec’s signature though:

I do think we should bear in mind from an Arsenal point of view that they are considering their midfield situation and ensuring that they’re strong enough in that area to, first of all, get through this season and then to strengthen in the summer. So, it’s not impossible that they go for Declan Rice and they’ll be in a really strong position if they were to win the league.

Declan Rice is desperate to play Champions League football – he admitted as much out in Qatar during the World Cup break.

CBS Ben Jacobs recently suggested that West Ham could sell the 24-year-old for just £75 million in the summer, having demanded more than £100 million last year

That’s because Rice is out of contract in the summer of 2024, although West Ham do have the option to extend that deal by a further 12 months.

Really, Arsenal should be in pole position for Rice. Chelsea are in all sorts of trouble and look like missing out on the Champions League – the same can be said of Liverpool. Manchester United recently signed Casemiro and Manchester City have Rodri.

If Arsenal do win the league, I would suggest that they will be front-runners to sign the 24-year-old.

And what matters now for West Ham is ensuring that we have a suitable replacement, or two, lined up. No messing about and haggling over fees this summer please Sully. Getting Rice’s replacement right will be the most important decision that the club has undertaken in years.
