West Ham United’s decision not to sign Stade Reims striker Boulaye Dia in January could end up being a costly one.

The 24-year-old was available for around £13 million in January (Le 10 Sport).
The Hammers decided that Dia wasn’t proven enough at the highest level to warrant that kind of fee, however (Claret and Hugh).
That seemed like a strange decision at the time. He has scored 14 goals for Stade Reims this term. At this point of the season, that’s a very impressive tally by anyone’s standards.

Dia is powerful, has explosive pace and is a real menace for opposing defenders. In other words, he is exactly the kind of striker we need to compete with Michail Antonio at the London Stadium.
West Ham may have blown their chance to sign Boulaye Dia
It seems as though the Hammers could have their work cut-out now, however, if David Moyes still wants to bring the 24-year-old to East London.
Le 10 Sport claims that there are now three other clubs who are keen to sign the Stade Reims hitman in the summer – Napoli, AC Milan and Eintracht Frankfurt.

West Ham found it hard enough when we were the only team in the race for the £13 million ace’s signature.
And now the Hammers have genuine competition for the Senegal international.
That might just mean that Moyes will miss out on Dia this summer.
I’m far from a conspiracy theorist, but who’s to say that that isn’t what the West Ham owners wanted all along? Had The Hammers really wanted to sign Dia, surely we would have just got it done.
Another one bites the dust eh?
