It is no secret David Moyes will be looking to bring a striker to West Ham United in the summer.
The Hammers were criticised for failing to replace Sebastien Haller after he was sold to Ajax for £20 million last month.
But Moyes insisted he would rather wait until the summer to get the right player HE wanted.
Moyes insisted he wanted to wait until the summer to sign striker
In the meantime his capture of Jesse Lingard has proved inspired business with the playmaker helping West Ham maintain their push for European football.
West Ham were linked with a host of strikers in January who will no doubt be on the radar again come the summer.
So has legendary striker Tony Cottee just dropped a big hint on West Ham’s summer striker plans having met with David Moyes to discuss his vision for the club?
Has legend Cottee dropped big over West Ham summer striker plans after meeting with Moyes?
Speaking to West Ham insiders Claret & Hugh, Cottee revealed he has met up with Moyes at the club’s training ground and enjoys a good relationship with the Scot.
And Cottee appeared to drop a big hint the club is targeting Blackburn Rover star Adam Armstrong while suggesting Moyes could look to sign not one but two forwards.
“His signings are remarkable and he will need to find a way of signing Jesse Lingard who has been remarkable whilst I fully expect a move for Blackburn’s Adam Armstrong who is a 5ft 8in front man along with a bigger more physical type,” Cottee told Claret & Hugh.
“I know he understands everything (about West Ham) because when I and other former players go to the training ground he gives us a terrific welcome because he knows what we meant to the fans.”
Cottee clearly has a relationship with Moyes having been a visitor to the club’s training ground.
Could Hammer go for Armstrong AND En-Nesyri?
Moyes revealed in an interview with The Times last year that he wanted to have sit-down meetings with the likes of Cottee to discuss his plans and vision for West Ham.
So the ex Hammers striker will be well aware of the type of players the manager wants.
The fact Cottee ‘fully expects’ a move for Armstrong does not necessarily mean he is one of Moyes’s prime targets.
But given the strong links in January coupled with Cottee’s comments, it seems the former Newcastle man is certainly on Moyes’s list.
And it is easy to see why having already scored 20 goals in 30 games so far this season for Rovers.
Could it be that West Ham want Armstrong AND En-Nesyri – who is a bigger, quicker, powerful front man?
It looks to be exciting times ahead this summer.
