The rumours are already starting to gather pace around West Ham after Allardyce has been confirmed as manager next season. With the full back position be targeted as a place that needs strengthening one name that is being mentioned is Martin Olsson.
Olsson has been playing for relegated Norwich this season and is a player we was after before he moved. Before he played for Norwich he played for Blackburn Rovers, a former team for current boss Allardyce. However problems between Allardyce and Blackburn scuppered the deal, allowing the player to move to the East of England. Olsson is player that would add youth and pace to the full back position, something we are lacking. He is also a Swedish international.
Could this transfer happen? Well I believe so. The rumour comes from Jim White of Sky Sports who tweeted yesterday “Hearing that West Ham have tonight made an undisclosed bid for Norwich City and Sweden defender Martin Olsson.” West Ham are said to have a budget of £20 million this summer so I suspect Olsson would cost around £3-5 million.
