West Ham United are said to be close to finalising the signing of Spain nmidfielder Pablo Fornals.

Sky Sports claims West Ham are close to signing the Villarreal playmaker for £25million.

The report states the La Liga side want £31m for the 23-year-old, who scored just five goals and provided three assists in all competitions as Villareal struggled last season.

Putting Pablo’s poor stats into perspective

Some West Ham fans may be concerned about Fornals’s relatively poor stats last season.

But he was playing in a struggling side suffering from a lack of investment.

What must be noted is that his performances during the 2017/18 season helped lead Villareal to a top five finish in La Liga.

And now Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has delivered his own verdict on the West Ham target.

Balague took to Twitter to confirm claims that the deal for West Ham to sign Fornals is imminent.

Balague confirms West Ham deal, delivers exciting verdict

Comparing Fornals to a Barcelona style player, Balague hailed the ‘genius’ as a brilliant signing by West Ham.

“On Fornals (who might be confirmed as a new West Ham player soon (f0r) around £24m,” Balague said on Twitter.

“Brilliant signing, 23-years-old. In the mould of a FCB (Barcelona) midfielder, genius in the pass, drives the ball with quality.

“Big gaps in concentration without ball but can be added to his game. Winning mentality.”

Over to you West Ham

Balague’s opinion on Spanish players in particular is highly respected.

So his analysis is sure to excite Hammers fans greatly.

West Ham just need to make sure they get the deal over the line now.

Fail to do so and supporters will be even more disappointed given his top billing.
