Graham Potter has incredibly exciting summer signing lined up after reported £8.3m bid from West Ham

West Ham United head coach Graham Potter definitely needs to add a real injection of pace to his ranks in the summer.

Blistering pace is king in the Premier League these days, and Graham Potter will be well aware that West Ham simply don’t have enough of it.

The Hammers need more competition for places in the attacking department, that goes without saying.

And with Potter planning a big squad revamp, we face an incredibly exciting summer transfer window ahead.

The Hammers head coach is well known for his penchant for signing hugely talented younger players with high ceilings.

And his latest target certainly fits into that category.

West Ham in for Samuel Mbangula

According to a report from TuttoSport, West Ham had an £8.3 million bid rejected for Juventus star Samuel Mbangula in the January transfer window.

The 21-year-old left winger will allegedly be available for around £20-25 million in the summer.

And if Potter really is a big fan of the explosive forward, the Hammers will no doubt go back in for him.

Mbangula has been a big hit out in Italy this season, with his blistering pace and direct playing style.

He has four goals and four assists in 25 games for Juve this season (Transfermarkt) – an impressive tally given his age and lack of experience at the very highest level.

The Belgium international is a right-footed left winger by trade but he can also play out wide on the right or in the number 10 position.

I have no doubts that Samuel Mbangula is a superstar in the making, and it would be a real coup for West Ham if we manage to secure his signature.

However, whether or not the Hammers board are prepared to meet Juve’s asking price for him remains to be seen.
