Graham Potter has already identified a key area he wants to strengthen and West Ham are targeting a star Pep Guardiola loves.
West Ham fans have been extremely impressed with what they’ve seen from Graham Potter so far.
The Hammers may only have one win from his five games.
But West Ham’s performances and style of play have showed marked improvement.
Especially given Potter has been without a host of key players due to injury.
The new boss has also made a difference off the pitch too.
It was his relationship with Evan Ferguson which enabled West Ham to reportedly beat 19 other clubs to the Irish striker’s signature.
Potter’s press conferences and interviews have also been thoroughly engaging too with fans lapping up how quickly he has bought into the club’s values from the Academy to the style of play.
Now the Hammers boss has also showed he has the ruthless streak needed to identify weaknesses in the squad and act on them.
West Ham are in need of another rebuild in the summer.
That’s after Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten lost their jobs as a result of getting last summer’s £155m splurge so wrong.
The Hammers need new strikers, new midfielders and at least one if not two new centre-backs.
A new full-back who can fill in on both sides may also be required.
Many West Ham fans feel another vital position needs money spent on it after being neglected in recent years.
Potter is clearly already unhappy with one key area as West Ham target a star Pep Guardiola loves.

Potter already unhappy with key area West Ham area
West Ham went into the season with fan favourite Alphonse Areola as number one backed up by experienced veteran Lukasz Fabianski.
Seasoned pro Wes Foderingham was then added on a free transfer to provide back-up.
Few would have imagined that signing a new goalkeeper would become a major priority for West Ham.
Areola has proved quite injury prone and was dropped as a result of his poor form recently.
Fabianski has been a great servant to the Irons and remains an excellent goalkeeper. But he turns 40 in two months and at times it is starting to show.
West Ham fans have been banging the drum that a new number one is needed.
Areola is undoubtedly a very agile and top quality shot-stopper.
But Areola does not command the area as well as he should do at 6ft 5in tall.
Potter has reinstated the Frenchman as number one.
However, after just over one month in charge the new boss has seen enough to know he wants a new number one.
And Roma contract rebel Mile Svilar is reportedly his prime target.
Although based on recent reports, a star who wants out of one of West Ham’s Premier League rivals could be an alternative option.
Svilar is a 6ft 2in Serbia international who has been Roma’s most consistent player this season, after emerging as the first-choice last year.

Svilar’s contract is still set to expire in 2027 but his salary has yet to be raised from the paltry £12k per week he’s currently on.
According to Italian newspaper Il Messaggero, Roma have been struggling to get him to agree a new contract.
As a result Roma may be forced to take what they can get for Svilar.
Now West Ham are looking to take advantage of the situation and have registered their interest in signing Svilar this summer.
The problem is the report states Man City boss Guardiola loves the 25-year-old.
And the Manchester City boss is looking for a new goalkeeper to replace the declining Ederson.
West Ham will have to hope Svilar’s current contract impasse lasts through to the summer.
But the player himself has admitted talks could resume soon.
Wantaway Liverpool ace a possible West Ham alternative
West Ham fans will be enthused to hear Potter is looking at signing a new number one goalkeeper.
If a move for Svilar doesn’t work out, West Ham had been linked with another top young goalkeeper recently in Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher.
The links were pre-Potter.
But Ireland stopper Kelleher has impressed everyone with his performances for the Reds this season and last.
The 26-year-old has seriously impressed while covering for Alisson for periods as Liverpool lead the way in the Premier League and Europe.
Kelleher admitted to The Times earlier this season that he needs to go out and be a number one somewhere else.
Because he accepts he will always be number two at Anfield as long as Alisson is there.
