Olympiakos defender Leonardo Koutris is a summer target for West Ham, Football.London reports.
West Ham have identified Koutris and Deportivo Alaves centre-back Guillermo Maripan as their two main defensive targets this summer.
Both players are expected to cost £10m and Mario Husillos is eager to get these two deals over the line.
Who is Leonardo Koutris?
Koutris currently plays for Olympiakos in the Greek Super League, where he operates as a left-back or a left-wing-back.
The 23-year-old could replace either Arthur Masuaku or Aaron Cresswell in the West Ham team if one or both of them leave.
Koutris has played over 50 games for Olympiakos, having previously represented Greek sides PAS Giannina and Ergotelis.
The Greece international is renowned for his attacking ability from left-back but his defensive contributions are improving.
West Ham signed Masuaku from Olympiakos. And they could return to the Greek top-flight team for another left-back.
With the defence in need of reinforcements (having conceded 54 goals in the Premier League this season), Koutris could strengthen Manuel Pellegrini’s options.
Here are some tweets from West Ham fans discussing the possibility of signing £10m-rated Koutris.
He’s quick physical and has a quality delivery on him would be a good signing imo

Don’t really know too much about either but if the reports on them are correct, sounds like two decent signings in two positions that need strengthening ⚒

Guillermo Maripan a CB from Alaves and Leonardo Koutris a LB from Olympiakos
By all accounts they’re both very good players.. although on previous experience LB’s from Olympiakos have been pretty dodgy for us 🤣

Koutris I’d prefer but happy with both.
