West Ham United want to replace director of football Mario Husillos with his Bordeaux equivalent Eduardo Macia.
Hammers website Claret & Hugh claims to have a top level source inside the club, believed to be co-owner David Sullivan.
And a new report from the website claims West Ham want Bordeaux head of recruitment Macia to replace Husillos.
Speculation has been rife about the future of recruitment chief Husillos of late (The Guardian).
Husillos on the brink?
West Ham’s eight game winless run saw Husillos and manager Manuel Pellegrini come under intense scrutiny.
One or two questionable signings has seen Husillos’s talent spotting abilities called into question.
Many West Ham fans blame the club’s owners Sullivan and David Gold who handed Husillos and Pellegrini a paltry £25million net spend in the summer.
Macia has had an intriguing career having also worked at the likes of Valencia, Olympiacos, Fiorentina, Real Betis, Leicester City and – before the Foxes – Liverpool.
Astonishing list of transfers overseen by Hammers target
A look back at some of the players signed by Macia (above, right) over the years shows just why Sullivan and Gold are keen to bring him to West Ham.
From Fernando Torres and Raheem Sterling to Wilfried Ndidi, James Maddison and Harry Maguire some of Macia’s captures have been sensational.
He famously signed Edu on a free transfer at Valencia. While there he grew Valencia’s squad value from £40million to £160million.
At Liverpool players like Torres, Javier Mascherano – from West Ham – Dirk Kuyt and Sterling were among those signed by Macia.
Leicester crop alone will excite West Ham fans
While at Fiorentina Juan Cuadrado, Joaquin and Mario Gomez were the big success stories.
And at Leicester he really came into his own. Bringing in players who have and are currently starring for the Foxes.
Ricardo Pereira, Caglar Soyuncu, Youri Tielemans, Europe’s top defensive midfielder of the last two seasons Wilfred Ndidi, Maddison and Maguire were some of the players brought to the King Power by Macia too.
The astonishing list will be tempting for Sullivan and Gold in terms of quality, value for money and potential profit.
