Michy Batshuayi could finally end up at West Ham United, thanks to former Hammer Frank Lampard.
Batshuayi famously rejected West Ham in favour of a move to Chelsea back in 2016.
The Hammers had a £31million bid accepted by Marseille (The Sun). But the Belgian striker turned down West Ham’s advances and moved to London rivals Chelsea instead.
He has struggled to establish himself at Stamford Bridge, though, being shipped out on loan to Borussia Dortmund, Valencia and Crystal Palace.
West Ham linked with Batshuayi once again
West Ham have been linked with several new moves – both loan and permanent – for Batshuayi in just about every transfer window since.
But now he could finally be set for a move across London to play in the claret and blue. And at a heavily discounted price too.
Claret & Hugh has claimed West Ham have prioritised securing a strike partner for Sebastien Haller in the next window.
Finances will be tight so West Ham will want as much value as possible in any outlay.
So it seems talk of Batshuayi finally arriving at the London Stadium might have legs.
Lampard pushing ‘cut-price’ striker into old club’s arms – report
That’s after a new claim from HLN and The Sun which report that Lampard is pushing the striker out of Stamford Bridge and into his old club’s arms before he walks away for free next year.
“With Frank Lampard ready to delve into the market, Batshuayi is likely to be one of the first out of the door,” The Sun claims.
“His contract is expiring in just over a year time meaning the Blues will need to cash in now or risk losing him for nothing.
“And reports in HLN suggest the Hammers are ready to take advantage as they look for a new striker…
Snub may colour judgement but deal could be too good to turn down
“Chelsea were initially hoping to raise £40m for this signature but know they will have to significantly drop their asking price in order to sell.”
