France and Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has spoken out about his club future after being linked with West Ham United.

Manuel Pellegrini is feeling the impact of a Premier League-worst injury list at West Ham.

The Chilean has eight first team players out, several for the season.

Winston Reid, Carlos Sanchez and Andriy Yarmolenko are out until next term while Manuel Lanzini also has no set return date.

Andy Carroll has been out all season and has started on the road to his latest comeback.

Jack Wilshere has also missed two months through injury and now Ryan Fredericks is sidelined.

West Ham look to January additions as injuries mount

As a result there is an over-reliance on talisman Marko Arnautovic, who himself has been carrying a worrying knee complaint.

As a result West Ham have been linked with several players ahead of the January window.

Many of them are strikers and one in particular is Chelsea’s World Cup winner Olivier Giroud.

According to the likes of The Mirror former Arsenal forward Giroud is being targeted by West Ham.

The Hammers would be the French target man’s third London club.

‘I would like more playing time’

And Giroud told French media outlet Telefoot he is staying ‘calm’ despite being unhappy with a lack of playing time at Stamford Bridge.

“Would I have to consider a departure to keep my place in the national team? I feel like it is as if we are where we were several months ago when I was being asked the same questions before the World Cup,” Giroud told Telefoot.

“Today, I am calm, happy with this World Cup title. I relativise a lot of things. I don’t need to put myself under more pressure than that. Of course, I am a competitor and I would like more playing time.

“But I am in a very big club, with very big players. I am going to fight and for the moment, it is not a question about seeking a departure. I am going to stick in there and do not count on me to give up.”

If not Olivier then how about an old flame?

If West Ham can’t prise Giroud away from Chelsea in January then how about former target Michy Batshuayi?

The striker could be sent back to London early from an unhappy loan move to Valencia.

And he would struggle to get anywhere near the Blues team so could be available.

If the Hammers do push to sign one of Chelsea’s strikers they could be joined at the London Stadium by fellow teammate Gary Cahill according to new reports.
