Ex-West Ham defender Scott Minto has told Stadium Astro that Declan Rice is a target for Real Madrid.
After West Ham’s 2-1 loss against Manchester United, Minto mentioned how Real Madrid have been in contact over a move for Rice.
The 20-year-old has been the standout outfield player for the Hammers this season as his stock continues to rise.
A host of Premier League sides are reportedly keen on the England international but now Real Madrid appear to have entered the race.
Scott Minto on Declan Rice
Noting that he had information from a “reliable source” on Rice, Minto said: “I’m hearing that even Real Madrid are knocking on the door and speaking to his family. That’s what I’m hearing.”
The ex-Hammer then claimed that Manchester United would also be keen on a move for Rice. The Irish Independent has recently run that story, claiming that the Red Devils want Rice to be Nemanja Matic’s long-term replacement.
Minto added: “Man United will be knocking on the door. The big boys of the Premier League and world football will be saying this is a young lad at a club that could sell for the right price.
“He could become one of the stars in that particular position.”
West Ham will be desperate to keep Rice, who signed a new contract earlier this season. He has come through the ranks and established himself as a regular in the side and he is also a fan favourite at The London Stadium.
