As reported by the Daily Mail, West Ham are considering a transfer deadline day loan deal for Tottenham Hotspur’s fringe striker Fernando Llorente.
The Spaniard is finding opportunities hard to come by for the north Londoners, and has done so pretty much ever since completing his move from Swansea City a year ago.
The 33-year-old has been unable to impress Mauricio Pochettino and is allowed to leave the club, and the Hammers are monitoring the situation closely.
Manuel Pellegrini is expected to confirm the signing of Lucas Perez from Arsenal before the 5pm deadline, but the transfer window was thrown up a number of surprises so far and the move could always fall through.
In which case, Llorente would be a great alternative for the Hammers, with Andy Carroll currently out injured and Jordan Hugill having just left for Middlesbrough on loan.
Llorente would bring a different dynamic. He is an effective target man for West Ham ever needed to get a bit more direct when chasing games, and also still has a good eye for goal.
He was always going to struggling to get game time with Harry Kane Spurs’ top dog, but Llorente is by no means a bad player and securing a loan deal for the former Athletic Bilbao stalwart wouldn’t be the worst idea if the Perez move collapsed.
