Reporter Fabrizio Romano has delivered a new transfer update which will seriously excite fans of both Man United and West Ham.

West Ham are reportedly trying to sign Manchester United full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

But it may not be the only transfer business that’s mutually beneficial to the Hammers and Man United.

Last summer West Ham spent most of the window chasing Manchester United duo Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire.

It proved a fruitless exercise in the end with the Red Devils demanding £40m for McTominay and Harry Maguire’s £30m move to the London Stadium collapsing late in the day.

West Ham have a new manager in Julen Lopetegui.

West Ham and Man United business intrinsically linked

But in a twist of fate it was he who rivalled the Hammers in a bid to sign Wan-Bissaka during his time at Wolves.

It has also emerged, though, that Lopetegui wants to try and bring McTominay to West Ham at the second time of asking this summer as he searches for a new central midfielder.

There have been conflicting reports over whether Manchester United are open to selling the Scotland star.

One report this week stated Man United boss Erik ten Hag was considering extending McTominay’s contract amid interest from the Hammers, Fulham and Galatasaray.

But it appears that may have been some brinkmanship coming out of Old Trafford.

Because Fabrizio Romano’s transfer update will excite both Man United and West Ham fans.

Romano’s transfer update will excite Man United and West Ham

It has emerged that Manchester United are closing in on the signing of brilliant midfielder Manuel Ugarte from PSG.

And Romano states that Man United will now look to sell McTominay or Casemiro to make room for Ugarte in a huge boost to West Ham’s hopes.

“Man United, working on outgoings with Casemiro or Scott McTominay to make room for new midfielder,” Romano said.

“Ugarte, keen on the move. Up to the clubs.

“Manchester United have agreed on personal terms with Manuel Ugarte. Contract terms discussed, player keen on moving to United even without Champions League football.

“Club-to-club talks continue with PSG, as more clubs also inquired. Same agent as Leny Yoro: Jorge Mendes.”

Romano is not the only one claiming Manchester United are close to signing the Uruguayan midfield ace.

Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg says Ugarte is ‘more than keen to join Manchester United with immediate effect’.

“The 23 year-old midfielder has given green light for his transfer to Man Utd.

“Now, Man United are trying to find a solution with PSG. Clubs are in contact. Negotiations ongoing.”

Never a better chance for West Ham to sign great Scott

That can only be good news for West Ham’s hopes of getting a deal done for McTominay.

In many ways McTominay would be the perfect midfielder for West Ham.

And they will never have a better chance of signing him than right now.

Edson Alvarez is a guaranteed starter in central midfield. But the dynamic between the Mexican, Tomas Soucek and James Ward-Prowse simply did not click last season.

McTominay is a true box-to-box midfielder who would bring tenacity, energy, athleticism and goals to West Ham’s midfield.

Many Manchester United observers argue McTominay is not of the level needed for where the Red Devils want to get back to.

Although news breaking this morning suggests the Hammers may now have turned their attentions to France star N’Golo Kante.
