Fabrizio Romano has claimed that West Ham are close to officially missing out on ‘brilliant’ £8m star Milos Kerkez.

That’s because Milos Kerkez is close to joining Lazio rather than West Ham this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

It was claimed just a few days ago that the 19-year-old AZ Alkmaar left-back was a key transfer target for the East London outfit.

However, it now seems that if Hammers boss David Moyes is to strengthen his left-back department in the summer transfer window, he will have to look elsewhere.

Unfortunately for us, Kerkez is Lazio bound…

The high-profile Italian football journalist has taken to Twitter to provide an update on the talented AZ Alkmaar teenager.

Romano tweeted:

That’s a big blow for West Ham as far as I’m concerned.

Foot The Ball describe him as a ‘brilliant’ left-back, and they’re not wrong – he really is top-class, and he has youth on his side as well.

The West Ham fans got a glimpse of how good the 19-year-old is during our Europa Conference League semi-final clash with AZ Alkmaar.

He has pace and energy in abundance, is tenacious in the tackle and possesses an exceptional delivery into the box.

I think Milos Kerkez would have been an excellent addition for West Ham. It’s a real shame that he’s set to join Lazio instead.
