Fabian Balbuena will definitely leave West Ham United this summer according to his agent Renato Bittar.

The 29-year-old joined the Hammers from Corinthians in the summer of 2018, for a fee believed to be worth £3.5 million (Evening Standard).

He really impressed during his debut campaign at the London Stadium.

Balbuena endured a torrid time last season, however, having been brought back to play too soon after a hectic international summer schedule.

The General did rediscover his form earlier this term but he lost his place once again just before the turn of the year.

He is now well down the centre-back pecking order under David Moyes with Craig Dawson, Issa Diop, Angelo Ogbonna and Aaron Cresswell all well ahead of him.

West Ham have some great young centre-backs coming through the ranks at the London Stadium as well including the likes of Frederik Alves, Jamal Baptiste and Aji Alese.

Fabian Balbuena faces bleak West Ham future

The Paraguay international is out of contract with the Hammers in the summer.

And the 29-year-old’s agent Renato Bittar told Versus Radio that his client could actually join another Premier League side this summer:

“We are talking with several teams but nothing in particular, there are several options for Fabian (Balbuena). For now, he will not continue at West Ham, but he will continue in Europe. We’re looking at options. What I can assure you is that he will continue in European football and it can be [even in] the Premier League. There are two or three clubs interested in him.”

Releasing Balbuena this summer is 100 per cent the right call.

He has been a decent player for us but nothing more than that.

David Moyes has plenty of central defenders to choose from and getting Balbuena’s £45k-a-week wages (Football League FC) off the books will be the smart thing to do for the West Ham boss.
