The 29-year-old Hammers defender will be out of contract at the London Stadium in the summer.
And as things stand, it seems as though Balbuena may well be on his way out of the club.
He has already been linked with a move to Lazio (Corriere dello Sport (Print edition, Wednesday April 14th) and a return to Brazil (Renato Bittar via Versus Radio).

Balbuena joined the Hammers from Corinthians in the summer of 2018, for a fee believed to be worth £3.5 million (Evening Standard).
The 15-capped Paraguay international has been a decent servant for West Ham. But the summer will probably be the right time to move him on.
Fabian Balbuena to leave West Ham?
Balbuena is a solid defender but he lacks any kind of pace and his passing ability is poor to say the least.
West Ham can certainly upgrade on the former Corinthians centre-back. In fact, we have plenty of young central defenders coming through the ranks who are probably already as good as the South American.

South American football journalist Jorge Nicola claims that Balbuena’s agent has told him that a move to another Premier League club is certainly a possibility for the 29-year-old defender this summer.
He may well be a decent free transfer for a mid-table top flight club.
We still think that move abroad will be better suited to The General, however. He should join a club that plays in a slower paced league like Lazio for example.

The Paraguayan has enjoyed some good times in a West Ham shirt. The game continues to evolve, however. Pace and power is more important than ever. And Balbuena has been left behind.
It’s time to move on. A move to another Premier league club would really surprise us, however.
