Reliable West Ham United insider ExWHUemployee has been speaking about Jesse Lingard’s future.

West Ham finish fourth? Why can’t we come second for goodness sake

Lingard has been a revelation for West Ham since signing on loan from Manchester United in January.

The midfield ace is expected to be named the Premier League’s Player of the Month.

Insider lifts lid on worrying caveat in West Ham’s hopes of keeping Lingard

And West Ham fans are desperate to see Lingard signed permanently in the

summer.

Speculation has been rife over Lingard’s West Ham future.

ExWHUemployee gave supporters some positive news on that front when he said the 28-year-old had ‘expressed that he would like to stay’ (West Ham Way podcast last night (Wednesday March 10th).

But Ex also added a potentially worrying caveat.

The insider said a big factor in Lingard’s future could be whether he is able to force his way back into the England squad as a West Ham player.

Next Thursday could be key to Lingard’s West Ham future after ExWHUemployee claim

Many have tipped him for a Three Lions recall when Gareth Southgate names his squad this month.

But that will have West Ham fans sweating over Lingard’s future if Southgate snubs him when he names his squad for three World Cup qualifiers next Thursday afternoon.

“He’s also trying to get himself into the England squad as well,” ExWHUemployee said on TWHW podcast.

“And I think it would be useful for us in terms of our ability to sign him, if he did get into the England squad.

‘That factor wouldn’t come into play’

“Because you know the fear from players when they leave big clubs like Manchester United and, let’s be honest, take a step down in terms of stature then the fear is that your England place comes more under threat.

“Because there’s a natural bias almost to the bigger clubs. If Lingard can get in the England team at West Ham, then that factor wouldn’t come into play when he chooses to remain at Manchester United or come to West Ham.”

Southgate will name his England squad at 2pm next Thursday (March 18th). England play San Marino, Albania and Poland on the 25th, 28th and 31st of March.

Lingard will be a big miss for West Ham this Sunday as he is not allowed to face his parent club as per Premier League rules.
