ExWHUemployee has provided yet another update on West Ham’s ongoing pursuit of Benfica midfield ace Gedson Fernandes.
Sky Sports claimed a couple of days ago that the Hammers are interested in signing the 20-year-old sensation.
Those claims were backed up by reliable West Ham insider ExWHUemployee, who suggested last night that a bid had actually been made for Fernandes:
Hammers fans began to get very excited. The Benfica ace even added a Hammers emoji on his Instagram page.
Things got more complicated, however, when the 20-year-old then edited his profile, and removed the previously added emoji, as reported here on Hammers News.
Will he join West Ham, or won’t he?
ExWHUemployee has taken to Twitter again today to provide a further update on the situation, suggesting that formal discussions between the player and club are pencilled in:
Would be an incredible signing
This seems like one that could go down to the wire. The worry for West Ham is that Manchester United are also keen on Fernandes, according to Sky Sports.
The Hammers simply must do everything they can to get a deal for the Portuguese starlet over the line. He is a superstar in the making. And bringing him to the London Stadium would have to be considered as a huge coup for West Ham.
There is seemingly still a very long way to go before that happens, however.
