ExWHUemployee claimed that West Ham boss David Moyes is open to selling up to seven first-team players this summer, when speaking on the West Ham Way podcast last night (Wednesday, May 6th).

Because of the financial ramifications of the ongoing global health crisis, Moyes will have to be thrifty in his player recruitment.

And he might just have to sell some of the deadwood before he brings anyone in.

ExWHUemployee has claimed that West Ham could take it one step further, however.

Potential clear-out

The reliable Hammers insider named the seven first-team players Moyes could be tempted to sell this summer, when speaking on the West Ham Way podcast last night (Wednesday, May 6th):

“We’re desperate to get a number of players off the wage-bill. Yarmolenko, they’d like to get rid of Wilshere. Winston Reid, players like they. They would consider offers for Ajeti, Lanzini, Anderson and Haller possibly if it was in the right region. So these so-called top players are not safe from being sold.”

In truth, you couldn’t really argue if the vast majority of those names were moved on.

But surely it’s too early to give up on Anderson and Haller. Sure, neither of them have been great this season. But they clearly have a lot of talent and potential.

Perhaps it would be wise to give them at least another 12 months to prove themselves.

As for the other five names mentioned, however, it really is time for West Ham to cut their losses.

There are too many high earning passengers at the London Stadium.

And Moyes absolutely must address that issue this summer.
