Ex Hammer tells sceptical West Ham fans what they’ll love about Jesse Lingard and what he’ll love about them
West Ham are set to announce the initial loan signing of the Man United and England midfielder Lingard today (Sky Sports).
It comes after West Ham elected to make Said Benrahma’s loan move permanent six months early to free up a domestic loan slot for Lingard.

Fans divided over Lingard signing
David Moyes is said to be a huge fan of Lingard from their time together at Old Trafford.
But West Ham fans have been divided over the signing.
Some feel West Ham are already well covered in attacking midfield and question whether the player is past his best.
Others trust that Moyes knows what he is doing and are backing the Scot’s judgement.
And many cited concerns over Lingard’s attitude and social media presence.
Now ExWHUemployee has revealed what the West Ham squad think of the signing.

“I asked around yesterday and apparently despite the persona on social media he is actually quite shy and a top lad!” ExWHUemployee said about Lingard on Twitter.
“Apparently the squad are really happy with the signing.”
If it is good enough for Moyes and the high-flying West Ham squad then sceptical fans need to accept it.
The fact is Lingard is a quality, proven player coming from one of the world’s biggest clubs.
He is still of a good age, has pace, mobility, technique and is known for his brilliant pressing of opposition defenders.
Lingard is also very versatile. He can operate wide, centrally and even as a second striker as an emergency back-up.

Versatile Man United outcast is plenty good enough for Hammers but Ex says he won’t go straight into the team
He is plenty good enough for West Ham. But whether he gets much game time remains to be seen.
And Ex added that should Lingard be available for Sunday’s game against Liverpool he will not go straight into the side.
“I don’t think he will (go straight into the team),” ExWHUemployee added on Twitter.
“Knowing Moyes he doesn’t like to change a winning team unless he has fitness concerns and also he usually starts new players from the bench.”
West Ham go into Sunday’s game against Liverpool knowing a win will elevate them back above the Reds into the top four.
And they may never get a better chance.
That’s after Liverpool’s defensive crisis deepened last night as their last remaining senior centre-back Joel Matip was ruled out for the West Ham clash.
