Hammers boss David Moyes will be desperate to sign at least one top class striker this summer.

The Scot currently has Michail Antonio as the only recognised senior centre-forward to call upon at the London Stadium.

One of the names to have been persistently linked with a move to the London Stadium is Chelsea hitman Tammy Abraham (Eurosport).

In fact, ExWHUemployee claims that the 23-year-old is David Moyes’s number one centre-forward transfer target.

Moyes recently scoffed at reports suggested West Ham could pay up to £40 million for Tammy, however.

West Ham still keen on Chelsea hitman Tammy Abraham

ExWHUemployee reckons we are still very much in the race to sign the 23-year-old Blues forward. He faces a bleak future at Stamford Bridge under Thomas Tuchel. So it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise if Chelsea lowered their demands for Abraham.

Ex told the West Ham Way podcast last night:

“Moyes has said that he won’t pay £40 million to sign him (Abraham). I wouldn’t be so certain that means we’re not going to sign him. I think it just shows that Moyes is not prepared to throw cash here there and everywhere. It’s probably not a bad message to put out. Abraham as I’ve said repeatedly is a top target. Moyes doesn’t want to spend all his cash on one player. 100 per cent Abraham is a target. Will Chelsea demand £40 million? I don’t know. Perhaps we will be able to get him on loan next season.”

Perhaps if Chelsea were willing to lower their demands for Abraham to around £25 million it would be a deal that West Ham could pursue.

The 23-year-old is certainly a player we should be looking to sign this summer. £40 million does seem rather excessive, however.

And it remains to be seen whether common ground can be found between West Ham and Chelsea.
