ExWHUemployee claims West Ham's aim is to sell Winston Reid permanently in the summer

Winston Reid has left West Ham to link up with MLS side Sporting Kansas City on loan until the end of the season (BBC), and reliable Hammers insider ExWHUemployee has claimed that the aim is to move him on permanently in the summer in order to get his massive wages off the books.

The 31-year-old joined West Ham in the summer of 2010 for around £5 million (Eurosport).

The 25-capped New Zealand international has gone on to make 223 appearances in all competitions for the Hammers. During that time he racked up 10 goals and 10 assists (Transfermarkt).

Reid is a very popular player amongst the West Ham fans, but unfortunately for him, injuries have ruined his career. For the last two years at least.

The centre-back hasn’t played a senior game for the Hammers since March 2018. And he must be nowhere near fully fit. Otherwise West Ham surely would not have loaned him out, considering their defensive problems at the moment.

Reid is on a lot of money at the London Stadium – £70,000 per week according to Spotrac.

And ExWHUemployee has claimed that West Ham’s aim is to sell the 31-year-old in the summer:

If Reid does move on permanently in the summer, he will leave the club as one of West Ham’s best servants throughout the years.

And most Hammers fans will wish the Kiwi the very best of luck in the next stage of his career.
