There have been some rumours flying about regarding West Ham centre-back Issa Diop recently.
Sky Sports reported last month that Tottenham want to sign the Frenchman, with the Hammers slapping a £50 million price tag on his head.
Sky Sports then reported yesterday that Chelsea want to sign a £50 million centre-back from a rival club. Now, it seems as though that mystery man could be Diop.
But reliable West Ham insider ExWHUemployee has poured cold water on the rumours, suggesting that there are no legs in either of the reports:
To sell or not to sell
Despite Ex claiming that the rumours have no substance, it will be interesting to see the Hammers stance, should a bid come in for Diop.
The 22-year-old moved to the London Stadium from Toulouse in the summer of 2018 for around £22 million (BBC Sport), so a bid in excess of £50 million might just be too good to turn down for West Ham.
Diop has been in and out of the team this season, often playing second fiddle to Fabian Balbuena and Angelo Ogbonna.
And if West Ham could bring in another top quality centre-back with youth on their side, it might just be in their best interest to move the 22-year-old on this month.
According to Ex, however, rumours suggesting that Diop could leave east London this month are non-starters anyway.
