The Hammers have been linked with a move to sign the former Tottenham star since last month (FC Inter News).

And then Gazzetta dello Sport (Print edition, January 6th, page 10) suggested that the east London outfit were in a head-to-head battle with Wolves for the 103-capped Denmark international’s signature.

Many West Ham fans were skeptical of the claims, however.

Firstly, Eriksen earns a whopping £260,000 per week at Inter (Guardian). And secondly, the last thing David Moyes needs to do this month is bring another attack minded midfielder to the London Stadium.

Many thought that it was merely rubbish made up by the media.

Christian Eriksen an option for West Ham?

ExWHUemployee has lent credence to the rumours, however. The Hammers insider told the West Ham Way podcast last night that the 28-year-old has been offered to the east London club:

“Eriksen is someone who we have been linked with. His wages are probably too high at the moment, however. He has been offered to us. Whether he would choose to move to us, however, is debatable.”

Whether or not West Ham decide to actually make a move for Christian Eriksen, however, remains to be seen.

The Dane will clearly have to lower his wage demands if we are to have any chance of signing him.

The 28-year-old may well be tempted to move back to London. The Hammers’ finances are tight, however. So a deal would probably only work if we bring Eriksen in on loan.

David Moyes bringing the former Spurs ace to the London Stadium still seems highly unlikely. Ex’s comments suggest that the door is still open for West Ham to make their move, however.
