Top transfer insider Graeme Bailey has shared the full truth on exciting West Ham links to Ivan Toney in an exclusive with Hammers News.

It will be a top priority for West Ham to sign a striker in the summer transfer window.

Gianluca Scamacca was sold after just one season with the Hammers. Ageing Danny Ings’ face does not fit under the manager and Michail Antonio turns 34 on Thursday.

Brentford’s Ivan Toney has been a longstanding target for West Ham. Indeed the Hammers famously passed up the chance of signing Toney from Peterborough for just £10m.

West Ham majority owner David Sullivan lists that decision among the worst of his time in football.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has admitted Toney will be sold this summer.

West Ham to get second shot at Toney?

Toney has been linked with West Ham again in the last week. It comes with many suggesting Arsenal and other elite clubs are no longer interested in signing the 28-year-old.

Now top transfer insider Graeme Bailey has shared the full truth on those exciting West Ham links to Toney.

Speaking exclusively to Hammers News, Bailey has confirmed West Ham have thrown their hat into the ring for Toney.

The Hammers have touched base with the striker’s agents and, crucially, were not shut down.

“West Ham are doing their work on their attacking options, Premier League and foreign,” Bailey told Hammers News.

“With Toney’s price dropping from January levels – he is now emerging on West Ham’s radar as it does appear they could afford.

I am told West Ham have touched base and they have not been deterred, although we know a number of clubs like him. It seems that Arsenal and Chelsea have backed away some what, but he remains someone they like.

“Tottenham and now Manchester United are looking, but West Ham are certainly ready to compete.

West Ham’s end to the season will clearly have an impact, not just on Toney but on all their major targets.

West Ham’s owners, manager and fans got a glimpse of what it might look like if the club did manage to sign penalty king Toney when England played Belgium on Tuesday night.

Toney lead the line with Jarrod Bowen on the eight. And the pair combined well given it was the first time they had played together, with West Ham’s top scorer setting the Brentford man up to almost score in the first attack.
