Everton want a signing West Ham snubbed and it’ll make them so glad they didn’t hire Sean Dyche amid a new Wout Weghorst claim.

It was not all that long ago West Ham were said to be considering sacking David Moyes and appointing Sean Dyche.

With West Ham struggling in the Premier League a few months ago, speculation intensified and a source inside the Hammers boardroom revealed Dyche was being considered.

In the end, though, West Ham stuck by the Scot after he oversaw a win over former club Everton which resulted in Frank Lampard getting the boot instead.

And it was the Toffees who turned to Dyche in a bid to keep them up.

Both West Ham and Everton avoided relegation with Dyche just about managing the feat on the final day of the season.

The potential appointment of Dyche seriously divided opinion at West Ham over the style of football he might play at the London Stadium and whether he was the progressive, modern manager the club needed should Moyes depart.

Once West Ham have played their huge Europa Conference League final against Fiorentina on Wednesday night, attentions will quickly turn to Moyes’ future and the summer transfer window.

But the Blues are already keen to start their rebuild it seems.

Moyes snubbed Weghorst and now he’s Everton’s number one target

West Ham were heavily linked with a move for giant Dutch striker Weghorst last year.

In the end Moyes snubbed the forward, a decision which left one transfer reporter baffled at the time, and he would go on to join Besiktas and then Manchester United on loan from Burnley.

Well now Everton are pushing hard to sign Weghorst according to the likes of The Sun.

Dyche wants to make the giant forward he signed for Burnley one of Everton’s first additions of the window, which opens for domestic deals in nine days.

Hammers will be thanking their lucky stars

West Ham will look at those links and thank their lucky stars they didn’t end up with Dyche.

Yes he may be working under a restrictive budget at Everton right now. But if Dyche wants Weghorst at Everton then he clearly intends to play a very specific brand of football that Burnley fans know well.

West Ham fans are already unconvinced Moyes can get the team playing a more attractive style.

Ask any Burnley fan about the style of football they are seeing under Vincent Kompany compared to that of Dyche’s regime and what they prefer. It will tell you everything you need to know.

If Weghorst is the way Dyche wants to go with Everton then the Hammers look to have made wise decision not pulling the trigger on Moyes and appointing the former Millwall man.
