Everton have piled the pressure West Ham United’s unpopular owners with a rapid move for axed Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti.
West Ham co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold are said to be considering sacking Manuel Pellegrini.
It comes after the Hammers plummeted from third in the Premier League to the brink of the relegation zone in less than three months.

Hammers fans furious with owners and manager

West Ham fans are furious with the club’s owners.

Many feel Pellegrini has been hung out to dry by a pathetic net spend of £25million in the summer.

That was after 11 players had been shipped out. And that included all five of last season’s striker pool. It also included two young defensive midfielders in Edimilson Fernandes and Pedro Obiang.

The lack of ambition only served to reinforce the belief amongst supporters that the initial £85million net spend after the appointment of Pellegrini was a one-off to appease a fanbase in revolt.

While West Ham fans blame the owners for their current mess, they also acknowledge Pellegrini should be doing better with the players he has available.

To that end most believe it is time for change but believe Sullivan and Gold are only stalling because of the compensation they would have to pay Pellegrini if he were axed.

Everton pile the pressure on Sullivan and Gold

That piles the pressure on Sullivan and Gold.
The divisive duo are in danger of seeing supporters turn their back on the club.
There is a sense of apathy amongst fans who are demanding they show some ambition or sell up.
Appointing a high calibre manager like Ancelotti would be a good place to start.
But Everton look set to get the jump on the Hammers with their rapid move.
And that will only serve to infuriate West Ham fans. They have been critical of the lack of decisive action as their club sleepwalks into a relegation battle.
