West Ham United defender Aaron Cresswell has been linked with a move to Everton.

West Ham have been one of the busiest clubs in the transfer window so far.

Several reports recently claimed West Ham would listen to offers for left-back Cresswell (Liverpool Echo).

Everton linked with Cresswell

On The West Ham Way podcast on Phoenix FM (Wednesday 22nd May), reliable West Ham insider ExWHUemployee told listeners that Everton and one other northern team were after Cresswell.

With speculation that the Liverpudlian could return to Merseyside with Everton, West Ham were being linked with a replacement.

According to BBC Sport the Hammers had lined up Turkey international Hasan Ali Kaldirim.

Return to Merseyside for Liverpudlian looks unlikely after Baines decision

But now it appears any deal between Everton and West Ham for Cresswell looks highly unlikely.

That’s if anything can be read into the decision from Toffees boss Marco Silva to hand Leighton Baines a new contract.

Baines, 34, has signed a new one-year deal taking his Everton career into a 13th season (Everton FC).

With Lucas Digne a resounding first choice it more or less kills the Cresswell talk dead.

Cresswell has it all to do

As a result West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini will likely prove Hammers insider ExWHUemployee correct by sticking with Arthur Masuaku and Cresswell as his left-back options.
Cresswell will have it all to do if he does remain at the London Stadium.
Injuries and inconsistency saw him lose his place to Masuaku at the end of last season.
