Europa League star questions West Ham transfer links, ‘I’m not sure it was real interest’

Midtjylland star Dario Osorio has cast doubt on West Ham’s interest in signing him during an honest interview.

Osorio was recently linked with a move to East London because of his impressive form with the Danish Superliga club.

However, the Hammers’ reported interest in the right-winger dates back to 2023, when he was with Universidad de Chile.

Osorio has now questioned the truth behind those rumours, as his agent has never told him anything about them.

But do we need one?

Dario Osorio plays down West Ham interest

Osorio admitted he was unaware of West Ham’s interest when he left Universidad de Chile.

Therefore, it was not a difficult decision to join Midtjylland, a well-known club for developing young players.

“To be honest, I don’t know if there was any real interest,” he revealed to talkSPORT earlier this week.

“With my agent, we’ve always agreed that he won’t tell me anything unless it’s a genuine offer.

“I’m not sure it was real interest because there was no offer or anything like that, so I didn’t have to choose between one or the other.”

The good news for Osorio is that West Ham – and several other Premier League clubs – could bid for him this summer.

The 22-year-old has been a standout player for Midtjylland in the Danish Superliga and the Europa League this season.

He even provided an assist in a 3-2 European victory over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in October.

The left-footed right-winger, who boasts a goal involvement every 179 minutes in 2025/26, is likely ready to move on.

Osorio has been compared to ex-Real Madrid star Angel Di Maria, suggesting he will succeed at the highest level.

Arsenal’s chief South America scout, Jonathan Vidalle, told ADN Deportes: “I see similarities in Dario Osorio with Di Maria when he started.

“He has that characteristic of an intelligent winger, skilled in one-on-one situations, who knows how to cut inside and finish well.”

If he develops into half the player Di Maria was, Osorio would be an excellent long-term replacement for West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen.
