If there is one transfer most West Ham United fans do not want to see happen this summer it is the arrival of Gary Medel.
West Ham have been repeatedly linked with Manuel Pellegrini’s fellow Chilean since January.
Indeed back then Pellegrini admitted his regret at not landing the former Cardiff City midfielder (whufc.com).
West Ham are short in defensive midfield, up front and at fullback going into the new season.

Hammers short of players… and cash
The problem is they are short in cash too (Claret and Hugh).
So a cut price move for Medel has looked increasingly likely of late.
That has not gone down well with a large section of Hammers supporters who feel he is too old and simply a stop-gap signing.
Fans instead would prefer Pellegrini to push through a deal for another Chilean midfielder they have been linked with, Erick Pulgar.

Hammers linked with Chilean duo Medel and Pulgar
According to Canal de Futbol, West Ham want the Bologna star as a replacement for Pedro Obiang.
The 25-year-old is a tenacious defensive midfielder who impressed in Serie A last season and for Chile in this summer’s Copa America.
Pulgar himself has admitted he is ready to leave Bologna this summer (La Tercera).

Double boost as Pulgar move could put an end to unpopular Medel talk
West Ham fans have been given a double boost then by a new report from RedGol in Chile which claims Bologna will not stand in the way of Pulgar’s wishes – and a potential move to West Ham – if they can sign Medel as his replacement.
RedGol claim West Ham could land Pulgar for around £10million.
As a result Bologna would then look to bring Medel back to Italy where he previously played for Inter Milan.
And West Ham fans would be more than happy with that it seems.
