Hammers boss David Moyes desperately needs to bolster his central defensive ranks at the London Stadium before next week’s deadline. And the same can be said of Spurs manager Jose Mourinho at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

West Ham are interested in signing Swansea ace Joe Rodon, according to Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg and Football Insider.

Sky Sports claimed that Spurs made a move to sign the 22-year-old on deadline day, however.

But ExWHUemployee has claimed that Tottenham have had a £7 million bid rejected for Rodon:

And with the window still open for Premier League clubs to sign players from the Championship for another nine days, West Ham still have a chance to beat Tottenham to Rodon’s signature.

The 22-year-old is valued at around £20 million, however, according to the Daily Mail.

And it is highly doubtful that David Sullivan will be willing to spend that much on a player who is totally unproven in the Premier League.

It is clear to see that the Wales international has the attributes needed to succeed at the highest level, however.

Stats

Rodon made 21 Championship appearances for Swansea last season. In those outings, he averaged one tackle, 1.6 interceptions and 5.4 clearances. The four-capped Wales international also won an average of 3.5 aerial duals per match (Who Scored).

The 22-year-old is the kind of player who could go on to become a genuine star centre-back.

And we cannot afford to miss out on the Swansea ace to Tottenham.

Let’s just hope that the West Ham owners have a pleasant surprise in store for us before next week’s deadline.
