Hammers boss David Moyes will undoubtedly be keen to bolster his central midfield ranks at the London Stadium this summer.
The Telegraph claimed last week that Barkley could be a realistic option for West Ham this summer.
The 27-year-old has spent this season on loan with Aston Villa. So many people thought that a permanent move to link up with Dean Smith in the summer was on the cards.
It appears that won’t be the case, however.
West Ham to swoop in with Aston Villa unsure on Ross Barkely
That’s according to TEAMtalk.
Villa have apparently told Chelsea that they don’t want to sign the 33-capped England international on a permanent deal in the summer.
And with the door now open, West Ham boss David Moyes is ready to swoop in (TEAMtalk).
The 27-year-old joined Chelsea for £15 million in 2018 (The Times).
Barkley possesses exceptional technique. He is very good with the ball at his feet. The former Everton ace is an impressive athlete as well when he is on top form.
In all honesty, however, we already have players like that in the shape of Pablo Fornals, Said Benrahma and Jesse Lingard.
Barkley hasn’t exactly set the world alight during his loan spell with Aston Villa this season either.
David Moyes is renowned for breathing life back into struggling players’ careers, however.
It would be interesting to see what the Scot could do with Ross Barkley, if West Ham do indeed bring him to the London Stadium this summer.
