West Ham United look set to let both Josh Cullen and Robert Snodgrass leave which suggests a midfielder could be on the way in.
West Ham boss David Moyes recently said he wanted to strengthen his midfield options (whufc.com).
It will leave West Ham – rather unthinkably – with only Tomas Soucek, Mark Noble and Declan Rice as central midfield options until January.
Cullen and Snodgrass to leave West Ham – reports
Unless of course West Ham are confident they have a deal agreed for a replacement before tomorrow’s transfer deadline.
West Ham have been heavily linked with a move for Chelsea outcast Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Daily Mail).
The Daily Mail claims West Ham are one of the favourites for the talented England midfielder.
And The Telegraph reported last week that that Hammers boss David Moyes wants to bring the 24-year-old Blues ace to the London Stadium.
Reliable insider ExWHUemployee also confirmed West Ham’s interest in Loftus-Cheek.
Surely Moyes would not sanction the departure of an influential figure like Snodgrass and Cullen if he did not have someone on the way in?
Double departure suggests Moyes has arrival lined up, could it be RLC?
Central midfield is arguably the most crucial area of the team.
And that would leave West Ham one injury away from complete crisis in the middle of the park.
Even in the comfortable 3-0 win over Leicester on Sunday, the late cameo for ageing skipper Noble highlighted just how much weaker West Ham are with him in the side.
The Foxes started waltzing through midfield when Noble came on.
Loftus-Cheek earns £60,000 per week at Chelsea according to Spotrac. So those wages shouldn’t represent a problem for West Ham.
He barely played last season having sustained a serious injury in the summer of 2019.
Exciting Loftus-Cheek and Rice partnership would free up Soucek
RLC did enjoy a fabulous campaign in the 2018/19 season, however, racking up 10 goals and five assists for Chelsea in 35 appearances (Who Scored).
The 10-capped England international would be an excellent addition for West Ham.
His pace, power and technical ability really would give us something extra in the middle of the pitch. RLC and Declan Rice would make a formidable central midfield partnership.
It would also free-up Soucek to get forward and in the box even more.
A loan move – possibly with an option to buy – for the Chelsea ace would surely suit all parties involved.
Particularly after Frank Lampard admitted last week he may have no choice but to send Loftus-Cheek out on loan.
