West Ham United hero turned villain Dimitri Payet is back on the market this summer.
Payet was well on his way to legend status during an unforgettable spell with West Ham.
But he soured his reputation by effectively going on strike to force a return to Marseille 18 months into his West Ham stay.

Payet back on the market?
West Ham sold him back to the Ligue 1 club for a £15 million profit having spent £10million to sign him in 2015.
Now it appears they could get him back at a bargain price IF they wanted to.
Reports from a well respected source in France claim Marseille are facing a financial crisis (Get French Football News).
“Marseille are facing a potentially humiliating scenario,” GFFN reports.

Marseille face humiliating fire sale
“(The club) must sell (players) before end of June (Financial Fair Play). No big earners want out…
“OM may have to sell to biggest rivals to get out of trouble.”
As a result Marseille must consider offloading their most saleable assets.
Payet is certainly one of those and as their highest-paid player, shifting him from the wage bill would be significant for Marseille.
But would West Ham fans take him back?
Labelled a snake by some West Ham fans for his perceived treachery, Payet would no doubt have some bridges to build.
Many supporters prefer to remember the plethora of magic moments he provided during his golden spell in East London.

Would West Ham fans take back ‘le snake’?
Cynics would suggest a few goals and assists and he would be back onside.
They are probably not far wrong.
Manuel Pellegrini is on the hunt for a new playmaker and there has been speculation Manuel Lanzini could leave.
The prospect of Payet linking up with the likes of Felipe Anderson and Declan Rice is a mouthwatering one.
West Ham supporters would also undoubtedly hate to see their former hero turn out for another English team should Marseille try to start an auction.
It may also be that West Ham wouldn’t have to part with any money.
Large transfer fees are usually paid in instalments and it could be that Marseille still owe the Hammers money after signing him in January 2017.
Lots of ifs and buts.
However stranger things have happened in football.
