After months of constant speculation Winston Reid has finally signed a new contract. The player has made a U-turn about leaving the club despite interest from Arsenal and Spurs. He will be the second CB to commit, after James Tomkins signed a year five year deal a couple of weeks ago.
This season I would say that I believe that James Collins and James Tomkins have been our best CB pairing and look most solid, maybe because Collins has had one of his best seasons at the club despite not playing that much. Winston Reid also has a tendency to disappear or make mistakes in big games for example Arsenal and Liverpool.
Despite playing the most games out of all the three CB, Reid has defence score of 275 compared to 290 to James Tomkins. Winston Reid has also played 305 more minutes than Reid over the season, they also have one goal each but Tomkins has more assists.
It cannot be denied that Reid signing will be a huge boost for the club after Noble and Tomkins have and rumours are the players like Adrian and Collins will also be involved in new contracts. Going into the new stadium we need to keep our good players as we have a good squad despite recent results.
