David Ornstein drops Jesse Lingard bomb as West Ham make fresh deadline day proposal

West Ham United have lodged a new proposal for Manchester United star Jesse Lingard on deadline day.

That’s according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein who claims that Ralf Rangnick has given Lingard his blessing to leave Old Trafford.

Jesse spent four months on loan at the London Stadium from Manchester United last season and he was a huge hit with the Hammers.

David Moyes absolutely loved having Lingard at West Ham and the 29-year-old loved his time in East London as well.

Lingard bagged nine goals and four assists in 16 Premier League games for the Hammers and he made such a huge difference to the way in which we attacked with pace and intensity.

Mark Noble spoke to the Daily Mail in the summer and labelled Lingard as ‘phenomenal’. So he was clearly very highly rated by his teammates at West Ham.

And it seems as though he may well be set for a London Stadium return…

West Ham make fresh Jesse Lingard approach on deadline day

The Athletic’s David Ornstein claims that the Hammers have made a new proposal to sign the 29-year-old.

It is suggested that Newcastle want to sign the 32-capped England international as well.

But considering their current plight and the fact that Jesse will be 30 in December, he surely must opt to move back to West Ham.

He played an integral role for us last season and he can do the same again as we try to secure another top six finish.

The Hammers also have a Europa League knockout tie to look forward to in March.

Bringing Lingard back to the London Stadium on deadline day would be a much-needed boost for everyone involved with West Ham United.

It isn’t clear whether the Hammers have made a loan offer for Lingard or a permanent one. He is out of contract with Manchester United in the summer, so the sensible thing would be just to get him signed up on a permanent deal.

Newcastle will undoubtedly be a problem, but there shouldn’t be any reason why we can’t get this one through before tonight’s 11pm deadline.
